NEW VENUE FOR 2015 - THE TEA LOUNGE AT ST MARTIN IN THE BULLRING
From January 2015 library sessions will be held every other Friday in the Tea Lounge at St Martin in the Bullring, 2pm-4:30pm.
The church is very easy to find, next to the Bullring complex, between Selfridges and the outdoor market. The tea room is attached to the church building (to the right as you stand facing the church doors) and has it's own entrance.
Sessions are free to attend and there is no charge for advice and help during the session. Support is available from Amy who is a trained Babywearing Consultant and other experienced parents. There is no obligation for you to hire anything during the sessions. Fees and refundable deposits apply for hiring slings from the library which are detailed in our terms and conditions.
Expectant parents, older siblings, daddies and grandparents etc are all welcome too. If you have any questions you can email me via the contact form, or send a message through the Facebook page or group (you will need to be logged in to Facebook to view/join the group).
Please be aware that the cafe is also open to the general public at the same time, however it is quite large and we will have an area with the tables moved for extra space.
St Martin's are very kindly letting us use their space free of charge providing we are buying refreshments. Tea, coffee, cold drinks, sandwiches, cakes and snacks are available so, baby food and special dietary requirements aside, please don't bring a packed lunch!
The cafe CLOSES at 4:30pm. In the past I have been able to be flexible with finish times and frequently stayed over but this will not be possible here so please keep an eye on the time.
We will still be operating on a first come first served basis via the signing in sheet. To ensure everyone can be seen, time is limited to 10-15 minutes per family so if you have a complex query please consider booking a one to one for another time. Where possible I will see people together if they have the same query/need.
Health & Safety during Library sessions:
- There will be a signing in sheet when you arrive. It is important that you sign in and note on the sheet how many children you have with you in case of the building being evacuated.
- You are responsible for your children at all times and must not leave them unattended.
- Please report any accidents to Amy immediately as she is a qualified first aider.
The sling library is volunteer run and not for profit. All the money made from membership and hire fees goes straight back into the library to buy more stock. The insurances I hold as a babywearing consultant include product liability, so I am insured to hire slings out to the public. Library stock is also covered by manufacturers product liability and guarantees.
Facility to make paypal payments for hire fees/deposits will be available during the session should you require it.
Unless you have reserved a specific item before the session, slings are hired on a first come first served basis. You can try out a few different slings during the session if you are unsure of what you want to borrow, and I am happy to demonstrate carries for you, but library sessions are not intended for in depth teaching. If you need more in depth support, there are other experienced babywearers attending the meets you can chat to, or you can book a one to one consultation with me for another day.
If you are unable to attend the library sessions but wish to hire/return a sling, where possible I can arrange an out of hours collection/return with you. Please email [email protected], or call me on 07870132927/01212440265 to discuss.
